Or alternatively titled, "Oh look! I have a blog!"
Yes, yes, of course I remember that I have a blog - as well as readers waiting in angst to know if I am still sleeping beside the damn dining room table.
I am quite thrilled to report that our bed and all the rest of our crap made it back into our bedroom on Saturday (all while I was out shopping at the Gap for a new spring wardrobe. I married the right man, yes?) On Sunday morning I did finishing touches and snapped some pictures for my friends on the internet.
I have to say, this project was not only not bad, but it was downright fun. I enjoyed painting, I enjoyed staining, I enjoyed completing. This time the work was for a great purpose. It brings us one step closer to the sales market, which is now planned for early July. (I'm finding that our trend is to scoot the sell-date up every week. We'll be completely packed onto a moving truck by late March. Just watch.)
(Orrrr, not.)
(Your mom's packed onto a moving truck.)
The thing I love most about painting rooms is the total newness that results. Out with the old, in with the new. The interesting thing about painting to sell, however, is that the result is only partial newness. In our bedroom I changed the wall color and ceiling fan for those blessed, blessed people who are going to PAY! US! MONEY! for our house, and I did some work on our dressers. I kept the same curtains, the same bedding, the same furniture. The change is subtle (read: didn't beat the shit out of my credit card) and is hopefully just enough.
Here's the before:
And the after:
Walls, trim, fan, dressers, new shelf over bed. The end.
Oh, and we moved the smoke alarm from the closet door frame up to the ceiling. Who the hell installs a smoke alarm on a door frame anyway? Previous crazy owners who want less warning that their house is burning while they sleep, that's who. Oh, and also us for the last 6.5 years since it took us that long to move it. You know...
Anyway, I loaded the complete set of befores, durings and afters onto flickr. Take a look!
Now I get five days off, and then we begin Project Holy Crap, the one also known as the-attic-that-we-never-did-anything-with-since-moving-in-other-than-load-it-up-with-random-storage-and-Sant. I have yet to decide whether that project will make it into blogland. Mostly, it depends how much of a kick you will get from keeping count of how many times I fall down the Steepest Stairs Ever Built On The Planet Amen. There will likely be swearing involved. Lots of swearing.

Trading Spaces has nothing on Molly! Hildy could learn a thing or two from you. Oh the attic...here we come!

I love the look of the primary wall having a different color than the other three. And those dressers look awesome. You better show pictures of the attic, because I know you'll do some equally wonderful things up there. I always thought that was a fun room!

You might not want to move after all your work... :)

The room looks great! I love that hangin candle holder! Love, love, love it.

Nice work Low, you(we)'re one step closer to moving day!
Don't worry too much about the stairs, after a while, it's just kind of like climbing a ladder:) And when you make your way down, think orphan girls escaping to save Annie-- nostalgia makes it much more fun:)
Hey do me a favor and don't take any pictures until I move all my crap out, eh Low?
And one more thing, if I may offer a rebuttle to Amy W-- ahem, not a chance in hell:)

PS- I LOVE YOUR NEW MASTHEAD!

You had better blog about Project Holy Crap. With lots and lots of pics, and/or videos. You know, just in case you do fall down the stairs, it can be on camera. That's not supposed to sound as evil as it does.
But really, your work is too good to not share with us. Your bedroom looks SO good.
